How to Develop a Successful Morning Routine: The Habit of Becoming a Morning Person

If you've always struggled with mornings, you might wonder if becoming a morning person is even possible. The good news is that anyone can develop a successful morning routine and transform into a morning person with the right habits and mindset. In this blog post, we'll explore the answers to these questions and provide practical tips to help you become a morning person.

I became a morning person in less than a week. No Lie! And I will provide how exactly I achieved that goal and what it has meant for my life.

Is it possible to turn into a morning person?

Absolutely! While some people naturally tend to be more energetic and alert in the mornings, being a morning person is not solely determined by genetics or personality traits. It's more about cultivating the right habits and setting yourself up for a productive and positive start to the day.

Is it normal to not be a morning person?

Yes, it is completely normal. Our bodies have individual chronotypes that dictate our energy levels throughout the day. Some individuals naturally lean towards being night owls, while others are early birds. It's important to recognize and respect your unique chronotype, but also know that it is possible to make adjustments to your routine and become more productive in the mornings, regardless of your natural inclination.

What makes you a morning person?

Being a morning person is characterized by feeling energized, motivated, and focused during the early hours of the day. It involves having a positive mindset and a set of habits that help you kickstart your day on the right note.

If you're ready to transform your mornings and develop a successful morning routine, follow these steps to become a morning person within 30 days:

1. Set a consistent sleep schedule Establish a regular sleep routine by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, even on weekends. Gradually adjust your bedtime to ensure you're getting the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep each night.

2. Create an inviting morning environment Prepare your surroundings for an enjoyable morning experience. Open your curtains to let in natural light, tidy up your space, and set out anything that will make your morning routine more enjoyable, such as a favorite book or a cup of tea.

3. Start with a small morning routine Begin with a simple morning routine that includes a few key activities like stretching, drinking a glass of water, and practicing gratitude. As you progress, you can gradually add more activities to your routine.

4. Implement physical activity Incorporate some form of exercise into your morning routine, whether it's a brisk walk, yoga session, or a quick workout. This will help increase your energy levels and set a positive tone for the day ahead.

5. Eat a balanced breakfast Fuel your body with a nutritious breakfast that includes protein, healthy fats, and carbohydrates. This will provide sustained energy throughout the morning and help you avoid mid-morning crashes.

6. Practice mindfulness or meditation Set aside a few minutes each morning for mindfulness or meditation. This practice will help you focus your mind, reduce stress, and start the day with a sense of calm and clarity.

7. Prioritize your tasks Identify the most important tasks for the day and tackle them first thing in the morning. This way, you'll have a sense of accomplishment and momentum as you move through the day.

My 7 Steps that made me a morning person in 7 days:

  1. Before I go to bed, I fill a glass of water next to my bed and put out my clothes for the day. Work clothes, yoga clothes, and my lounge clothes for when I get home from work.
  2. I also create my to-do list for the next day. Doing it purposefully before bed keeps the brain from whirling with everything you hope to remember in the moring.
  3. The miracle product of my morning person routine: THE SUNRISE ALARM CLOCK. I was waking up before the annoying sound of my alarm within 3 days. Within a week I was telling everyone I knew they needed this product. Love it! Love it! Love it! Did I mention, I love it!
  4. When I wake up in the morning, I sit all the way up in bed and drink the whole glass of water I put on my nightstand the night before. Yes, the whole thing. This gives your body time to adjust to being upright and starts your hydration for the day.
  5. I hop in the shower. I can’t seem to wash the sleepiness off me without one. I also use tingly body wash… it awakens the body with mint and tea tree oil! Once out of the shower, I dress for the day and grab a cup of coffee.
  6. I read for 30 minutes. It’s amazing how many books you’ll go through.
  7. While I read, I eat a breakfast I prepped earlier. Learn more about easy breakfast meal prep in one of my other blog posts here.

Remember, developing a successful morning routine takes time and consistency. Stick to your routine to allow it to become a habit. Don't get discouraged by occasional setbacks—progress is never perfect. Before you know it, you'll be well on your way to becoming a morning person and reaping the benefits of a productive and positive start to your day.

Now that you have the knowledge and tools, it's time to embark on your journey to becoming a morning person. Start implementing these habits today and watch as your mornings transform into a time of focus, productivity, and joy.
